Streambank Erosion

According to the Walnut Creek Watershed Master Plan, the majority of Clive's streams are actively eroding and have a moderate or high cut bank. To limit this, streambank erosion within the Greenbelt is counteracted on an ongoing basis to protect City infrastructure and trails with strong community support. We continue to evolve our technique and strive to limit the impacts of the projects while improving safety and habitat.

Being responsible stewards of the land

“Our goal is to protect property, preserve habitat, improve visibility, and reduce potential flood impacts”

Much of our streambank work is focused on slowing the flow of water to reduce erosion. Here is an in-progress photo of how we shape the bank and change its surface to work with the flow of water and reduce erosion. Click here for our current project.
