Polk County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan

The Polk County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan was developed to help reduce losses within the county from many types of hazards, including floods. Taxpayers pay billions of dollars each year for disaster recovery in the United States. Some events are predictable, and often, damages can be reduced or eliminated. The plan is a federal requirement for those jurisdictions wishing to be eligible for FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Programs. The City of Clive participated in the development of the plan and adopted it formally in 2014. The plan was updated in 2019 and approved by FEMA through 2024.
