City of Clive Announces Small Business Recovery Grant Recipients 

Clive, IA (June 24, 2020) -- The City of Clive has announced over $50,000 in grants for 18 small businesses in Clive.  The grants are part of the regional Small Business Recovery Grant program launched in April.  Each award is for approximately $2800.  Award recipients are:

  • Weber Battery, Inc.

  • Sweers Family Chiropractic, PLC
  • Mercy West Dental Clinic, PC
  • Wild Tresses Beauty Bar
  • West End Chiropractic LLC
  • Dream Dance Company
  • Bodywork by Steph LLC
  • Whitney Allie Hair
  • Hove Family Dental, PLLC
  • Soleil Tan Spa 73rd

“We’re proud to support these resilient Clive businesses that are working hard and adapting in the midst of the pandemic,” said Clive Mayor Scott Cirksena.  “Economic recovery will take time, but together we’re going to get it done.”

The grant program was designed to help sole-proprietors and businesses with less than 30 employees that had restrictions placed on their operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Funding criteria and recommendations were made by the Iowa Center for Economic Success and approved by members of the Clive City Council, City staff, and Clive Chamber of Commerce.  All of the recommended businesses received grant awards.  Fourteen of the awardees are women or minority-owned businesses.  

“We are thankful for the impact small businesses have in making our region a vibrant place where people want to live,” said Polk County Supervisor Robert Brownell. “This fund was a total community effort, and we are hopeful it will help small businesses toward the path to recovery.”

In addition to the City of Clive, the grant program was funded through contributions from Polk County, the Greater Des Moines Partnership, City of Des Moines, Polk County, Principal Foundation, EMC Insurance Companies, City of Urbandale, Warren County, City of Johnston, Delta Dental, Meredith Corporation, Nationwide, Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Iowa, Wells Fargo Foundation, City of Indianola, City of Norwalk, City of West Des Moines, City of Clive, Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company of Iowa, Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, Fidelity & Guaranty Life, IMT Insurance, City of Windsor Heights, City of Carlisle, Bankers Trust, Kemin Industries, NCMIC Group, Veridian Credit Union, Global Atlantic Financial Group, GuideOne Insurance, Merchants Bonding Company, Ruan Transportation Management Systems and Community Choice Credit Union.

Recipients from other participating cities in the region will be announced in the coming days and weeks.
