When is the library open?
As of November 9th, the Clive Public Library is open for curbside pickup ONLY:
Monday: 9 a.m - 5:30 p.m
Tuesday - Friday 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m - 12:30 p.m.

The library will be closed on most major holidays and may close for inclement weather. Please follow our social media to be be informed of any changes in the schedule.
What holidays is the library closed?
The Clive Public Library will be closed on the following holidays:
New Year's Day
Thanksgiving Day & the day after
The library will close at 5pm on the day before a major holiday.

Can I return items after the library is closed for the day?
After the library closes for the day, the book drop is available for returns. Items placed in the drop are checked in the next morning. Items in the drop before the library opens are returned as if checked in the last day the library was open.
Please DO NOT place any library equipment (makerspace items) in the book drop as this may damage the equipment, and you may be asked to pay for the damages.
I lost my card, can I get another?
Your first library card is free; the replacement card is $1.00. To receive a replacement card you will need to come into the library with your proof of identification.
What happens if I lost an item?
The library will charge a replacement cost based on what the library paid for that item plus a $5.00 processing fee. The fee will be charged to your account to be paid with cash, check, or credit. The library does not accept donations of like items for replacement. Please be aware that to pay with a credit card, the charge needs to be over $5.00.
How much are library fees for late items?
Fees for late items are $0.20 per day per item. You may renew the item twice as long as no other patron has a reserve on the same item. Equipment (makerspace & hotspot) late fines are $2.00 per day per item due to the expense of the items.

Documents can be scanned to an email address at no charge
Can I renew items?
You may renew your items twice as long as NO other patrons are on reserve for those items. If the items are on reserve for another patron, you are not able to renew the items and they must be returned to the library.

-Coming into the library
What do I need to get a library card?
To get a Clive Public Library card you will need to bring in your up to date driver's license or state ID card. If you either of these do not have the up to date information then we will need to have one of the following:
Voter registration card
Credit card statement
Any of the above can be viewed on a smart phone.
Do I need a pass to use the library's computers?
No, you don't need a pass to use the library's computers. We have 5 computers that have Internet and basic word processing programs (Windows 10) on them. They are available on a first come first serve basis and are limited to 2 hours at a time for each patron a day.
Does the library proctor tests?
Yes, we do proctor tests. We have a form that you can fill out that will start the process, please allow at least 7 business days from the time that you initially submit the request before expecting the take the exam.
How do I reserve a study room?
The library has two study rooms: Maya Angelou and Dr. Seuss. Both are the same size and will fit the same amount of people. You may reserve these rooms during normal library hours. Please follow the link to find the date and time that works best for you.
Can I reserve the community room?
The library has a community room (that will fit 25-80 people) or two study rooms (that fit 6-8 people).
The community room is available for non-profit groups. Please click here to reserve a room.
Here are some general guidelines:
No social events or private parties allowed
No meetings that charge for attendance
Groups are responsible for set up and clean up
No sale of merchandise, solicitation of later sales or order placement
Informational programs by organizations that could obtain financial gain are not allowed.
For Political Organizations:
Forums or informational meetings for potential elected officials are allowed.
Fundraising of any kind is expressly prohibited.
Are there limits on the amount of items I can check out?
Everything loanable in the library may be checked out for 3 weeks.
The only limit to the number of items that may be checked out is on DVDs and Blu-Rays. Patrons are limited to 10 DVDs or Blu-Rays at a time.
The library does not have what I am looking for, can I request it?
We welcome all suggestions for items not in the library. All items will be considered, but the library cannot guarantee that a suggestion will be purchased.
