The Board of Adjustment is established to hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is an error in any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the Community Development Director in the enforcement of the City Zoning Ordinance. Specifically, the Board of Adjustment can only hear and decide such questions as are involved in determining whether special use permits or variances should be granted. For more information, visit Variances & Special Use Permits.
The Board of Adjustment meets on the third Tuesday of each month, as needed, or on call of the Chairman if a special meeting is necessary. The meetings are currently held via Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, when in-person meetings resume they will be held in the City of Clive Council Chambers at 1900 NW 114th St. at 5:30 p.m. The Zoom meeting ID and call-in number will be published on the agenda for the meeting. The presence of three members is necessary to constitute a quorum.
The five members, residents of the City, each serve five-year terms on the Board of Adjustment. Members are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.Robert Forte
