Yard Waste Collection Ends November 30
The Compost It! program picks up yard waste throughout the Metro. Curbside collection will end November 30 for the season. The program accepts small twigs and branches, leaves and lawn clippings, as well as any garden vegetation. Just avoid dirt, mulch, rocks and food.
Tag it: Brush bundles and store-brand bags require a green Compost It! sticker for collection. Bundles can be no larger than four feet long by 18 inches in diameter.
Bag it: Put loose yard waste, such as lawn clippings, leaves and garden vegetation, in Compost it! bags or store-brand bags with a green Compost It! sticker.
Wheel it: Throw everything in your Compost It! cart and take it to the curb before November 30.
Retailers sell Compost It! bags and stickers throughout the Metro. For curbside collection, use Compost It! brand yard waste bags or stickers. These are sold at Clive City Hall, 1900 NW 114th St., Clive. To learn where else to purchase these items, visit www.WhereItShouldGo.com/bagsstickers. When using store-brand bags, a Compost It! sticker must be added for collection.
If your trees just can’t shake their leaves by November 30, there will be one more chance for curbside yard waste pick-up during winter collection, December 31, 2018 – January 11, 2019. During winter collection, yard waste and live Christmas trees with a green Compost It! sticker attached will be collected.
Year-round yard waste disposal is also available at Metro Park East or Metro Park West Landfills. For more information about yard waste collection and the Compost It! program, visit www.WhereItShouldGo.com or call 515.244.0021.
