Clive Collaborating with Polk County on Flood Assistance Program

The City of Clive is partnering with Polk County to help homeowners affected by recent flooding repair and replace damaged furnaces, water heaters, and electrical systems.  The program will help owners of single-family, owner-occupied residences with gross household incomes at or below 80% of Polk County median income levels.  Please see the chart below to determine if your household meets the program’s income requirements:

Grant awards up to $6000 will be made to eligible households.  Eligible mobile home owners may receive awards up to $750.  Funds may only be used to repair or replace furnaces, water heaters, and electrical systems that were damaged by recent flooding.  

  • Furnace maximum grant award $2750
  • Hot Water heater maximum grant award $1750
  • Electrical panel/system maximum grant award $1500
  • Total maximum award $6000


If you’ve already repaired or replaced a flood damaged furnace, water heater, or electrical system, you can still apply for this grant and be reimbursed for eligible expenses.  If you’ve received the Iowa Disaster Assistance grant you may still participate in the program.  If you’ve received payment from an insurance company for flood related damage, you may still participate in the program.

City Inspecting Flooded Structures for Free and Waiving Repair Permit Fees

Use caution when entering previously flooded structures or areas.  If you would like to have a flooded structure inspected, or if you plan to make repairs that require an inspection and permit, please contact City of Clive Community Development (515-223-6221,  The City will provide inspections free of charge and waive any permit fees for repair work in flood affected areas.
