NW 78th ST Tree Removal
Updated February 12, 2016
A large cottonwood tree on the northwest corner of NW 78th and Drake Street has been identified as a hazard due to its proximity to the public right-of-way and multiple power lines. The City has determined that the tree will be removed in the near future.
Originally work was scheduled to begin on January 25th, however there has been a delay and is now scheduled to be removed on Monday, February 22, 2016. During the approximately 3 day demolition period, NW 78th Street between Drake Street and Drake Court will be closed only on the first day of this project to allow the contractor to safely bring down the tree.
MidAmerican Energy will have representatives on site during the project to help ensure that power is maintained. For a limited number of homes there may be a brief outage prior to the removal of the tree to reroute power lines so as to maintain power through the process. MidAmerican Energy has stated that the outage is expected to be less than one hour. Questions or concerns may be directed to Mark Mertens at 223-6221 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
