Welcome to Clive!
This is a community that has grown from a population of 752 citizens in 1960 to 15,447 in 2010. Our growing and prosperous city is located in the hub of a thriving suburban area that lends itself to convenience and a relaxed living atmosphere. We have some of the most desirable and beautiful neighborhoods in the metropolitan area. One of the “signature” items in our community is our Greenbelt Trail system that stretches across the city with connections to major regional walking and bicycling paths.
Listed below are items and issues you may be wondering about as you settle into the community. If you don’t find what you are looking for here, there is a wealth of information found on the website on the homepage under Resident.
The City of Clive is governed by a Mayor and five Council Members who are elected at-large on a non-partisan basis. The administration of City business is carried out by an appointed City Manager and City Staff. You are encouraged to contact us whenever you have a question or problem involving local government.
The City Council meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the City Hall located at 1900 NW 114th Street. On the 5th Thursday of the month the City Council holds a work session starting at 6:00 p.m. in the same location. Agendas for the meetings and other public notices are regularly posted on bulletin boards at City Hall, at Dahls Grocery Store locations on Hickman and University, and the city web site. A taped audio stream of each council meeting is also available online.
Your involvement in the various committees, commissions, and boards that serve the City is encouraged. Click here for more information.
