The Clive Aquatic Center opened in 2003 and after ten years of operation is receiving several updates to meet new Americans with Disabilities Act requirements; a couple of mechanical upgrades and an additional feature is being added to the facility. Designed for all ages, the new feature is called a splash pad. It will be an interactive area with water cannons and a dump bucket.
The contractor has installed the center portion of the colored concrete for the new splash-pad feature. In this area, the rain barrel spray feature will be in the center and five water cannons will be installed to allow patrons an interactive opportunity to spray friends and family. As staff worked with the community through the planning stages, this was the desired featured addition. Other improvements include a new exit from the Lazy River. A new seat bench at the entrance to the Leisure Pool and several improvements will allow us to meet new ADA requirements for aquatic centers.
All work is to be completed prior to opening day 2013.
