Drug Drop 10/26/2013
Posted: Thursday, September 26, 2013
COLLECTION OF UNUSED AND EXPIRED MEDICINES
The City of Clive is hosting a drug drop event by members of the Fire and Police Departments, in conjunction with a National Take Back Initiative coordinated through the Drug Enforcement Administration.
This is your chance to clean out medicine cabinets or closets of expired and unused prescriptions, as well as over the counter medicines. Prescription bottles or other containers should have personal information removed or blacked out before drop off, if possible.
When: Saturday, October 26th, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Where: Dymond Public Safety Center, 8505 Harbach Blvd, Clive, Iowa 50325 – A drive-thru arrangement will be set up so you may do this without exiting your vehicle.
Accepted Items: Controlled and non-controlled substances, along with over the counter substances such as cold medicine may be dropped off. Please be sure all liquids are properly sealed.
Unacceptable Items: Due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens, used syringes, injectibles, and Intra-venous (IV) solutions will not be accepted.
This is a great opportunity to safely dispose of your unwanted medicines as each year many of these substances are unintentionally used, when mistaken for another product, ingested by a child who may think it is candy, or purposely used by someone for whom it is not prescribed.
Please contact the Clive Fire Department (515-223-1595), Clive Police Department (515-278-1312), or Clive City Hall (515-223-6220) with any questions you may have.
