From the May 2012 Clive City Newsletter:
Each year, the City of Clive observes Arbor Day by planting trees at various locations throughout the community. Past locations have included the Aquatic Center, the Greenbelt trail-head entrance at NW 78th and University Blvd. and the medians on NW 128th Street just to name a few. On April 20 of this year, the fourth grade students at Crestview Elementary worked with Parks & Recreation Department staff to plant 75 trees around the regional detention pond just South of Stonegate Park between NW 156th and 152nd Streets. Another group of 30 + volunteers from the ITA Group in West Des Moines assisted with the planting of and additional 400 trees at the same location! I believe that with the planting of every tree, our community becomes even more attractive and I am proud of our staff, students, and volunteers for their outstanding work. My thanks to all who participated!
Also in this newsletter, you will see an article with information on how to participate in the flag program sponsored and administered by the Clive Firefighter’s Association. I would encourage all of our residents to consider participating in this program. The Firefighter’s Association stores, places and removes the flag during each flying holiday making it very easy for all to show their patriotism!
Don’t forget the Mayor’s Cleanup will be on Saturday May 5 for those living East of I-35 and on Saturday May 12 for those living West of 1-35.
As always, it is an honor and a privilege to serve as your Mayor. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly with any questions you may have.
