From the May 2008 Clive City Newsletter:
Corridor Redevelopment – The main construction projects this summer on the N.W. 86th Street/University Boulevard corridor will be the completion of turn lanes at the 86th and Hickman intersection and the building of the new intersection at N.W. 86th Street and University Boulevard. As the city completes its new branding/logo project, we hope to incorporate any new design in to a gateway feature at Hickman and 86th Street. New street lighting poles will be installed from Hickman Road to Franklin Avenue and possibly other streetscape work along the single family residential area on the west side of 86th Street.
The construction work at 86th Street and University Boulevard will include the redesign of University Boulevard eastward to NW 84th Street. Some of streetscape work will be completed along with the intersection reconstruction.
Porter Greenbelt Shelter – The shelter house in Greenbelt Park (10490 Maddox Parkway) has been named the Porter Greenbelt Shelter in honor of former Mayor Roy Porter (Clive mayor from 1970 to 1978). Mr. Porter was instrumental in promoting the development of Greenbelt Park and he always had a great deal of pride in our city and was especially pleased to see the Park become an active and important part of the city for residents and visitors. A brief ceremony will be held at the Porter Greenbelt Shelter on May 5, 2008 (5:30 PM) recognizing the new name.
