The City of Clive, Iowa seeks a GIS Intern for the spring/summer of 2015. This position
offers valuable exposure to a variety of GIS, utility infrastructure management and planning
activities. In this role, the intern will perform various duties that include but are not limited
to: preparing, creating and editing GIS data; interpreting site plans and engineering
documents; gathering data in the field via GPS systems; developing GIS data utilizing data
editing techniques; and exercising critical thinking to accomplish project goals.
The GIS intern position is funded for approximately 15 to 20 hours per week during the
semester and 40 hours per week during the summer break at a rate of pay of $12.20/hour.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with basic GIS principles and ESRI GIS software
(ArcMap, ArcCatalog, etc.); is able to work independently; is a self starter and a quick
learner. Working knowledge of GPS equipment and a basic understanding of utility systems

2015 - Parks & Recreation Summer Jobs
Recreation Program Leaders - $9.75-$10.95/hour
This position organizes activities, crafts, field trips and guest speakers for the Sport and Nature programs, Youth Tee-Ball, Youth Soccer and the Campers Sports Program. Lesson plans, first aid and purchasing supplies for the program are part of the duties along with planning assistants and volunteer duties. Reports to the Recreation Supervisor and must work and communicate well with children and parents. Also helps schedule staff and volunteers.
Recreation Program Assistants - $8.50-$9.40/hour
This position is to help the Recreation Leader with making samples of the crafts for the day, assist in planning activities, supervising kids and first aid.
Recreation/Aquatics Concession Stand Workers - $8.25-$9.15/hour
Staff will make and sell food items such as candy, hot dogs, popcorn, nachos and sandwiches warmed in a microwave. They will open/close the stand, serve various food items, count money and clean up at night’s end. Additional duties include recording softball/volleyball scores, assisting with general first aid when needed and other duties of the concession stand staff. Great opportunity to make extra money during the summer. Concession stand is in use 6-7 days a week from 5:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. or at the aquatic center 11:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m.

Park Maintenance - $11.25-$12.45/hour
This position will be 40 hours per week for approximately 6 months. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and have a good driving record. Job duties include mowing the parks, cleaning shelters, dragging and lining softball fields, building and grounds maintenance, landscaping and other general labor. Hours are 7:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with some weekend overtime.

Clive Aquatic Center
Lifeguard - $8.92-$10.32/hour
Lifeguards create a safe aquatic center for patrons by enforcing facility rules and policies, scanning area of coverage, cleaning duties as assigned and supervising young children, teens and adult patrons. Job entails effective communication with supervisors, co-workers and facility patrons. Applicants need to be willing to work outside, as this is an outdoor facility. Hours are flexible. Must be 16 years of age and hold current lifeguard, first aid and CPR/AED certification. Applications accepted until end of March.
Swim Lesson Instructor (WSI) - $10.11-$11.70/hour
Instructors provide appropriate class activities and documentation for all levels of participants using the safety recommendations and skill progressions of the American Red Cross. The instructor is also responsible for communicating with class participants and relaying pertinent information to the Recreation Supervisor. Group and private lessons are offered 8:15-11:00 a.m. and 5:30-8:45 p.m. Must be 16 years of age and hold current WSI certification. Applications accepted until end of March.
Concession and Admission Personnel - $8.25-$9.15/hour
Staff is needed to work at the Clive Aquatic Center. Job entails operation of the admissions system, various concession equipment, preparing and serving foods, using cash register, making change, counting money, answering phones, cleaning as assigned, and performing other front line duties as required. Hours of operation range from 11:15 a.m.-7:30 p.m. at the Aquatic Center. Must be 16 years of age. Applications accepted until end of March.
