Human Resources Manager

The City of Clive Iowa, population of 17,506 (http://www.cityofclive.com/) is accepting applications for the position of Human Resources Manager until May 27, 2016.  Clive is a growing community located at the crossroads of two interstate highways (35 & 80) in the greater Des Moines, Iowa, Metropolitan area. The City employs 107 full-time employees and numerous part-time and seasonal employees. This is a new position which will administer the City’s Human Resources programs, policies and procedures ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and/or regulations.  The successful candidate will coordinate and administer any combination of the following: employee recruitment; safety and wellness; employee/labor relations; compensation and benefits; employee insurance; training and development. 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Required Education:   Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Industrial and Labor Relations, Public Administration, Business, Sociology, Psychology or other related field.
     
Preferred Education:   Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Industrial and Labor Relations, Public Administration, Business, Sociology, Psychology or other related field.  Certification in Human Resources Management or Labor Relations.
     
Required Experience:    At least three years of progressively responsible experience in human resource services.

    

Prior experience working in a union environment and the public sector would be preferred but not required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be acceptable. SPHR or PHR certification preferred.

Hiring range of $75,000 - $95,000 DOQ. In addition to salary, the position includes an excellent benefit package.

Engineering Technician / Senior Engineering Technician - Public Works

The City of Clive is looking for a highly motivated individual for the position of Engineering Technician/Senior Engineering Technician in the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. The experience level of the successful applicant will determine whether they are hired as an Engineering Technician or a Senior Engineering Technician.  Clive is a growing community known for providing quality service, its greenbelt and a distinct relationship with nature.  Under general supervision of the Engineering Services Administrator, the position performs technical drafting of complex engineering design to produce plans and specifications for public infrastructure projects included in the City’s Capital Improvements Program (CIP). Typical projects include street, trail, sidewalk and parking lot construction or maintenance, and sanitary sewer, storm sewer and water distribution system upgrades or additions. Work is of some complexity and varies, requiring a working knowledge of the principles, practices, equipment, and materials used in computerized drafting work; and a basic knowledge of geographic information system (GIS) fundamentals.  

Position Requirements – Engineering Technician (Minimum Starting Salary $46,225)
Two years of college level engineering coursework or vocational training in civil drafting including three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience.  Click here for job description.

Seasonal Park Maintenance

40 Hours per week / approx. 6 months / $11.25 - 12.45 per hour.

This position requires applicant to be at least 18 years of age and have a good driving record.  Job duties include mowing the parks, cleaning shelters and restrooms, dragging and lining softball fields, building and grounds maintenance, landscaping and other general labor.

Hours are 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday through Friday with some weekend overtime.

Aquatic Center - Part Time Seasonal Concessions and Admissions

The Clive Aquatic Center is looking for individuals who have great customer service skills and enjoys working with the public.  This position is responsible for checking in patrons at the pool, answer all incoming phone calls and admission questions, preparing and serving food, and handling money at the registers.

Applicants need to be at least 16 years old.  Any work in recreation facilities is a plus, but not required.  Minimum entry wage for this position is $8.25 per hour.  Weekend positions are available only.

Aquatic Center - Swim Lesson Instructor

The Clive Aquatic Center is looking for individuals who are energetic and enjoy teaching aquatic skills.  This position is responsible teaching class participant’s various aquatic skills and strokes, ensuring safety of all program participants, prepare lesson plans and submit class records for assigned levels, and attend all trainings and meetings.

Applicants need to be at least 16 years old and must enjoy aquatic recreation and/or teaching youth in an aquatic class setting.

We do offer employment for 15-year-old applicants in a part time position only with hours generally Monday-Thursday from 8:15-11:15 a.m and/or 6:30-8:30 p.m. as a swim instructor aide. 15-year-old applicants must complete the following form along with their application. Child Labor Application/Work Permit

Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification is recommended; however not required.  Minimum entry wage for this position is $10.11 per hour for those certified in WSI; $8.50 without WSI certification.  Part time and full time seasonal positions are available.  Applicants are welcome to call 515-867-5090 for a list of upcoming Water Safety Instructor trainings within the surrounding Des Moines area if needing WSI certification.
