Technology Services Manager

The City of Clive is currently accepting applications for the position of Technology Services Manager.  Under the general direction of the Assistant City Manager, this position oversees and coordinates the city’s technology infrastructure and enterprise applications, assists departments in the coordination of independent applications, researches new technologies and trends,  develops strategies that meet city departmental technology needs, manages project implementation of new systems, identifies areas of potential process improvement and leads technology-related process improvement initiatives, manages staff technology training and oversees all of the functions of the Technology Services Division.   The position directs and supervises the Technology Services staff, including the Network Administrator and GIS Coordinator. 

Clive, population 17,506, is a progressive community located on the western side of the Des Moines metropolitan area.  Located at the crossroads of two interstate highways (35 & 80), visibility and convenience are major corporate attributes of the community.  Clive combines urban amenities with first rate school systems, a wide variety of housing options, a safe family environment and an unsurpassed quality of life.

To be considered, candidates must have the minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, computer science, information technology or related field.  Master’s degree in Management Information Systems, computer science, information technology or related field preferred.  At least five years of increasingly responsible experience supporting technology resources in a LAN environment with exposure to TCP/IP, routing, name resolution, CAT5/CAT6 and fiber optics, firewall security, data backup and integrity, email and collaboration, network printing, access control, virus protection, office productivity, Internet and intranet.  Supervisory experience preferred. Click here for a complete Job Description.

Competitive salary starting at $91,525, depending on qualifications, plus an excellent benefit package.

Lifeguard

The Clive Aquatic Center is looking for individuals who are dedicated to aquatic and patron safety.  This position is responsible for the safety of all facility patrons and program participants by constant surveillance, being rescue ready and alert at all times, respond to all emergencies, and attend all orientation and trainings. 

Applicants must be at least 15 years of age and must hold current American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications.  Any work in aquatic recreation is a plus, but not required.  Applicants are welcome to call (515) 867-5090 for a list of upcoming lifeguard trainings within the surrounding Des Moines area if needing lifeguard certification. 

Employment hours for 15-year-old applicants are generally scheduled Monday-Thursday from 8:15-11:15 a.m. or 3:45-8:30 p.m.  Mid-day and weekend positions are available with supervisor approval once season begins.  15-year-old applicants must complete the following form along with their application. Swim Lesson Instructor

The Clive Aquatic Center is looking for individuals who are energetic and enjoy teaching aquatic skills.  This position is responsible teaching class participant’s various aquatic skills and strokes, ensuring safety of all program participants, prepare lesson plans and submit class records for assigned levels, and attend all trainings and meetings.

Applicants need to be at least 16 years old and must enjoy aquatic recreation and/or teaching youth in an aquatic class setting.

Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification is recommended; however not required.  Applicants are welcome to call 515-867-5090 for a list of upcoming Water Safety Instructor trainings within the surrounding Des Moines area if needing WSI certification.

The Clive Aquatic Center is looking for individuals who are energetic and interested in teaching aquatic skills to youth, but are not ready to lead classes.  This position is responsible for assisting the instructors who are teaching class participants various aquatic skills and strokes while ensuring safety of all program participants. 

Applicants need to be at least 16 years old and has a passion in aquatic recreation and/or teaching youth in an aquatic class setting.  Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid is recommended, but not required.

Recreation Program Leaders

This position organizes activities, crafts, field trips, and guest speakers for the Sport and Nature programs, youth tee-Ball, youth soccer, and the sports camp programs.  Developing lesson plans, providing first aid, and purchasing supplies for the programs are part of the duties along with scheduling and directing assistants and volunteers.  Leaders report to the Recreation Manager or Coordinator.  Must be able to work and communicate well with children and parents.  Also helps schedule staff and volunteers. 

Applicants must be at least 16 years old.  Work experience in recreation facilities and programs is a plus, but not required.  Staring wage for this position is $9.75-$10.95 per hour.

Recreation Program Assistants

The Recreation Program Assistant helps the Recreation Leader with making samples of the crafts for the day, assisting in activity plans, supervising kids, and providing first aid.

Applicants must be at least 16 years old.  Any work in recreation facilities and programs is a plus, but not required.  Starting wage for this position is $8.75-$9.90 per hour depending on qualifications.

Park Maintenance – 40 hours per week

Park Maintenance #1 Approximately 3 months $10.75-$11.87/Hour

Park Maintenance # 2 Approximately 6-8 months $12.25-$13.52/Hour

This position requires applicants to be at least 18 years of age and the ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.  Job duties include, but are not limited to, mowing the parks, cleaning shelters and restrooms, dragging and lining softball fields, building and grounds maintenance, landscaping, and other general labor.  Hours are 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with some weekend overtime work depending on park events. Candidates for hire must successfully pass a background check and possess a valid driver’s license with a good record.
