The Clive Fire Department provides Emergency Medical Services for citizens in emergency situations. The fire department offices are located at 8505 Harbach Blvd. Office hours are Monday – Friday 8 A.M. to 5 P.M.

Animals
Dog Bites
The owner of any dog, cat or other animal which has bitten or attacked a person, or any person having knowledge of the bite or attack, should be reported to the Clive Police Department.

Licenses
If you are the owner of a dog or cat over the age of four (4) months you are required to obtain a pet license from the City Clerk’s office, located at Clive City Hall at 1900 NW 114th Street. Licenses can be purchased for your dog or cat on or before April 30th each year, without penalty. For more information click here.

Strays
It is unlawful for any owner to allow dogs, cats or any other animals to run at large within the corporate limits of the City. Any animal at large may be impounded. For more information contact the Clive Police Department.

Dead Animals
The City of Clive will remove dead animals from the streets and right-of-ways. If you have a dead animal in your yard that needs disposed of, put it in a black garbage bag, place the sack at the curb, and contact the Public Works Department.

Aquatic Center
The Clive Aquatic Center is an outdoor family aquatic center operating throughout the summer months. Open daily, the aquatic center hosts open swimming, swimming lessons, morning lap swim, aquatic fitness classes, special events, and private parties.

Bicycles
Bicycle Lost or Stolen
To report a lost or stolen bicycle, contact the Clive Police Department.

Bicycle Licensing
City of Clive bicycle owners may license their bikes for a two-year period. A fee of $1.00 is charged for each bicycle registered. Register your bike at the Clive Police Department, located at 8505 Harbach Blvd.

Block Party Permit
Applicants must furnish a $25 refundable deposit with the block party permit application. A 21-day advance notice is required. If the event includes outdoor live or amplified music, a noise permit is required. Click here for more information.

Board of Adjustment
The Board of Adjustment meets at 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month as needed, or on call of the Chairperson if a special meeting is necessary. Meetings are held in the Council Chambers in City Hall, 1900 NW 114th Street. Click here for further information and/or a hearing application.

Brush Removal
Artistic Waste Services Inc. will provide a semi-annual spring and fall brush removal event at dates mutually agreed upon by Artistic and the City. When dates become available they will be posted on the website and in the Clive Newsletter.

Brush will be picked up curbside and must meet the requirements for disposal listed below.

1. Brush must be bundled.

2. Length of bundled brush no longer than (4) feet and weigh no more than 40 pounds.

3. Diameter of bundles can be no larger than 18 inches.

Yardwaste stickers will not be needed for the special spring and fall brush collections.

Building Codes
The City Council has adopted a set of codes for the purpose of requiring architects, builders, contractors, property owners, their agents and others, to meet their responsibilities with respect to proper construction, construction techniques, premises safety, and to provide for inspection.   • Monument, building, or temporary signs

Christmas Tree Sales Yard Permit
Vendors interested in operating a Christmas Tree Sales Yard are required to obtain a permit through the City Clerk’s office. A $25 fee plus a $200 refundable deposit is required. Click here for further details.

Cigarette Permit
Permits to sell cigarettes are issued through the City Clerk’s office. Visit the State of Iowa website at http://www.state.ia.us/tax or call 1-800-572-3943 to request Form# 70-014. For more information click here.

City Council
The City Council meets in formal sessions at 7:00 p.m. on the first, third and fifth Thursdays of each month, in the Council Chambers in City Hall, 1900 NW 114th Street. All meetings of the Council are open to the public. Click here for further information.

Code Compliance
Property owners are responsible for using and maintaining their property in accordance with the City Code. It is the City’s policy to review all reported code violations and require the property owner to bring their property up to the minimum standard identified in the code. Development Application
A development application is required for any proposed construction or development of land within the City of Clive. Prior to a building permit being issued, the development application must be reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Commission and approved by the City Council. Click here for further information.

Digging
Iowa law states that before beginning any outdoor project that involves digging, you must call Iowa One Call at 1-800-292-8989 in order to minimize the risk of damaging any type of underground utility. The service is free of charge to the caller. Click here for further information.
