From the December 2013 Clive City Newsletter:
As you know, a City election was conducted here in Clive on November 5 and I would like to congratulate Council Member Eric Klein for being re-elected to another- four year term and Council Member Michael McCoy for being officially elected to a four year term from an appointed position. Yours Truly was also re-elected to a second four year term as Mayor. By the time you read this newsletter, an appointment to fill an unexpected vacancy on the Council will have been made and we will look forward to welcoming that volunteer to our team. My thanks to all of those residents that got out and exercised their privilege to vote and to make a real difference in our wonderful community. My thanks also to all of the volunteers that work at our polling places to make sure that our election process runs smoothly.
Looking to the future, the Town Center Master Plan continues to progress with the work of the Town Center Steering Committee. Over the past month the Steering Committee, made up of citizens throughout the Clive community, met for a workshop to develop ideas and concepts for the public spaces that will be included in the Town Center project. I had the opportunity to be involved with this workshop and believe me, some of the ideas being generated would be great additions to Clive and really establish the Town Center as the focal point for Clive and a place for the community to come together.
Following the workshop the consultants will take all of the ideas the Committee produced and develop these into visual concepts that fit the scale and areas for development. In December the Committee will get to review those concepts and provide any additional tweaks and adjustments. The Committee’s work will then be shared with all of you during a Public Open House that we are anticipating for mid-late January. During the Public Open House residents will have the opportunity to react to these concepts and provide your feedback to the Committee as we move to finalize the Master Plan for the Town Center. The date for the Public Open House will be set in December, so stay tuned for the date and time!
It does not seem possible that with this issue of the Newsletter, we will be bringing another year to a close. 2013 was a year of many successes and I want to thank our staff, City Council and all of you for contributing to our collective success. Clive is a city with a very bright future indeed!
As always, it is an honor and a privilege to serve as your Mayor. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly with any questions you may have.
