The Clive Firefighters Association is an auxiliary organization independent from the Clive Fire Department, but acts in support of the department and facilitates many of the departments public relations events. The CFFA is comprised of present and past CFD members, who throughout the year volunteer their time at events which benefit both the fire department and the public. The Clive Firefighters Association depends solely on financial support directly from it's members and generous members of the community we serve.
Clivefest Water Slide
A more recent tradition of the Clive Firefighters Association is the water slide at the Clive Festival each summer. Located between Mercy West Clinics and the Clive Aquatic Center, the CFD constructs two giant "slip-n-slides" with water provided from our ladder truck. We always have huge turnouts of kids who love to come ride the slides, but often notice the smiles on the faces of the adults often exceed those of their children!
The longest running tradition is Clive Santa Day. Each year Santa Clause makes a special visit to Clive, IA and is escorted in a fire engine to select "Santa Stops" throughout Clive. Many past and present residents of Clive share very fond memories of the excitement they or their children felt as Santa approached on a fire engine!
Easter Egg Hunt
Santa is not the only holiday mascot that frequents our city each year! The Clive FD is also paid a visit by the Easter Bunny, providing an Easter Egg hunt for children of all ages.
Avenue of Flags
The Clive Fire Fighters Assosiation operates a program within the City of Clive in which flags are displayed near the curb of subscribers homes during 5 holidays per year. The result is neighborhoods lined with properties addorned with American Flags as a show a patriotism every Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independance Day, Labor Day, and Veteran's Day. Due to the overwhelmingpopularity of this program, some changes have been recently implemented in the manner in which flags are deplyoyed. Existing subscibers can read about the changes to the program here.
