|Dennis Henderson began his career with Winnebago Industries in 1970. During his five years with the company he was promoted into production control, product management, and eventually marketing.
Upon leaving Winnebago he and two partners established the Unicover pickup topper manufacturing firm in Garner, Iowa. During his time in Garner he served on the City Council which sparked his interest in municipal management.
After selling his business interests he completed his degree work at Iowa State University and moved to Dwight, Illinois in 1988 where he was the Village Administrator. In 1992 he moved to Nevada, Iowa where he served as the City Administrator through 1995. In January of 1996 he was appointed as the City Manager of Clive, Iowa where he continues to serve.
Dennis is married to Marcia and they have two daughters and four grandchildren. He is a member of the Clive Lions Club and a member of the Valley Evangelical Free Church.
Assistant City Manager
|Matt McQuillen serves as Clive’s Assistant City Manager. As Assistant City Manager Matt is responsible for the City’s economic development program, development of the Capital Improvement Program and Operating Budget, and assists with various intergovernmental relationships the City has with entities such as the Des Moines Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, Bravo of Greater Des Moines and Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau. Matt directs various citywide projects and oversees the Technology Services and Leisure Services Departments and serves as the Acting City Manager when the City Manager is unavailable.
Mr. McQuillen has a Bachelors of Arts (BA) Degree in Political Science and a Masters of Arts (MA) Degree in Public Administration from Iowa State University. He has worked previously for the Iowa League of Cities, Iowa Department of Revenue and the City of Ankeny, Iowa before coming to Clive as Assistant City Manager in March 2011.
