MTU Meter Reading Project
The Water Department is continuing to replace the old meter reading systems throughout the city and installing a new automated meter reading, radio frequency (RF) based meter-reading system. This system uses a meter-transmitting unit (MTU), installed on the outside of your house or business and replaces the existing black remote touch reading device. The installation procedure does require that we enter the house to connect the meter to the reading device. We are installing the units by reading routes. We are currently trying to catch residents at home by knocking on doors during the workweek and installing the radio reading system. If we cannot catch you at home, our installer will leave a card asking you to call and set an appointment for us to enter your home and change out the reading system.
