TREE TRIMMING
When trimming the trees and shrubs on your property make sure the trees (in your yard and in the right-of-way abutting your property) that overhang the sidewalk and street are trimmed to the proper height for clearance of pedestrians and vehicles.
The owner of any tree overhanging the street or right-of-way shall prune the branches so they do not obstruct light from any street lamp or obstruct the view of any street intersection and there is a clear space of eight (8) feet above the surface of the sidewalk and fifteen (15) feet above the traveled surface of the street, per Clive City Code-Section 151.05.
In the case of trees existing in the parking, the owner or person in possession of the abutting property shall keep the trees on, or overhanging the street, trimmed so that all branches will be at least fifteen (15) feet above the surface of the street and eight (8) feet above the sidewalks, per Clive City Code-Section 151.06.
STORM DAMAGED TREES
A tree is never in greater danger than during a storm. Every tree will face at least one storm during its lifetime. That can mean a threat from pounding rain and hail, from the fury of the wind, from the scorch of lightning or the weight of ice on branches and leaves. Click here for tips.
