Command/Supervisory Officers
Lt. Gary Walker is in charge of patrol, college internship, training, and scheduling. He also is Sr. Firearms Instructor and Chemical Protective Measures Instructor.
Sgt. John Brodersen is the 2nd Watch Patrol Supervisor. He is also Public Information/Media Relations Officer, Child Passenger Safety Seat Technician, Administrator for Traffic Safety Grants and a guest instructor for the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.
Sgt. Vern Lukehart is the 1st Watch Patrol Supervisor of several officers. His duties include assisting, overseeing and reviewing paperwork of patrol officers. He is also the Physical Fitness Coordinator for the department.
Sgt. Pete Roth is currently assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division as the Third Watch Commander. Sgt. Roth is one of the department’s DARE instructors. He also is an instructor in radar / lidar, child passenger safety technician, standardized field sobriety testing, and Traffic Occupant Protection Strategies (TOPS). He represents the department on the Central Iowa Traffic Safety Task Force, the Greater Des Moines SAFE KIDS Coalition and the Iowa Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
Sgt. Terry Brauch is commander of the Criminal Investigation Division where he oversees and supervises the department's three detectives. He is also a D.A.R.E. Instructor for both elementary and junior high schools and is a Matrixx COLORS Personality Facilitator.
