Clive Parks

Welcome to the beautiful parks in Clive.  Visit the Greenbelt Park and Trail from your nearby neighborhood connection or one of the seven trail heads with parking for your vehicle.  Take a stroll, ride your bike, jog, dust off those rollerblades and enjoy all the natural scenery that's abundant in most of the 297 acres of this premier park in our City.

The Greenbelt Trail, including all of the connections to nearby neighborhoods, provides for a paved surface 11.3 miles in length.

73rd Street to 86th Street - 1.05 miles

86th Street to 100th Street - 1.48 miles

100th Street to 114th Street - 1.16 miles

114th Street to 128th Street - 1.02 miles

128th Street to Country Club Blvd. - .78 miles

Country Club to 142nd Street (on street route) - .75 miles

142nd Street to 156th Street - 1.36 miles

156th Street to Lions Park - .32 miles

The Raccoon River Valley Trail in Clive is 2.6 miles in length.

Greenbelt Trail

All of the Clive Parks are open from 5:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m.  Trail hours are from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.  Motor vehicles must remain on established roads, driveways, and parking areas.  Motor vehicles are not allowed on trails, except for powered wheelchairs and scooters for the disabled.  Fires are restricted to the grills provided at shelters.  Dogs and cats must be on a leash.  It is illegal to remove any plant or wild animal from any park.

Campbell Recreation Area                                           12385 Woodlands Parkway

Many improvements to the park were completed in 2007.  The 34-acre park features three adult softball fields, sand volleyball, a basketball court, new tennis courts, new playgound equipment, and a new open-air shelter that may be reserved for your family picnic.

Country Club Glen Park                                                 16335 Sheridan Ave.

This 15-acre park is north of Hickman Road.  This park includes a shelter that can be reserved, a great playground, basketball court, and soccer fields.  A little known feature is the sledding hill located west of the shelter for your wintertime enjoyment.

George Lundberg  Park                                                   1450 NW 78th Street

George Lundberg Park This neighborhood park includes a covered picnic shelter, playground equipment, 1/2 basketball court, and a walking trail for your healthy exercise and enjoyment. 

 

Greenbelt Park                                                                      10490 Maddox Parkway

Clive's Greenbelt Park stretches nearly the entire length of our city and is recognized as a landmark feature of the community.  The park encompasses over 290 acres, with 11 miles of trails, a ball field, two playground areas, and wildlife is abundant.  The Porter Greenbelt Shelter may be reserved for your family picnic.  You can access the shelter from 100th Street.  The park is "Distinct by Nature" and is truly one of the jewels of the city.

Huntington Ridge Park                                                1400 NW 131st Street

This small neighborhood park features a basketball court and play equipment.

Karp Park                                                                               1500 NW 109th Street

This secluded neighborhood park includes new play equipment, shelter, 1/2 basketball court and a trail that connects to the aquatic center.

Linnan Park                                                                          8500 Alice Avenue

This park is just east of 86th Street and the Clive Jaycees host the Clive After Five event in this park.  Park features include tennis courts, wading pool, basketball court, ball field and a nice shelter that's available to reserve for your family gatherings.

Lions Park                                                                               15880 Wildwood Drive

Lions Club Gazebo This park near the Walnut Creek Little League facility includes a tennis court, basketball court, play equipment, and a gazebo that was donated by the Clive Lions Club.

 

Rio Valley Park                                                                     1743 Rio Valley Drive

This park is tucked quietly into the neighborhood and includes a nice playground and open space for group games.

Stonegate Park                                                                      15280 Boston Parkway

Construction on this four-acre park site was completed in 2007.  The park improvements include a walking trail, play equipment area, basketball court and a few holes for miniature golf.

Swanson Memorial Park                                                8641 Swanson Blvd.

Swanson Memorial Park is home to one of the oldest homes in Clive.  The Clive Historical Society maintains the railroad depot and caboose that are historical attractions to visit in Swanson Memorial Park.  Visit the Clive Historical Society website for more information. 

Walnut Ridge Park                                                               10700 Elmcrest Drive

This small neighborhood park includes play equipment and a tennis court.

Wellington Ridge Park                                                       1400 NW 123rd Street

This small neighborhood park features native grass and wildlflower plantings along with interpretive signs identifying the various plants.

Westview Bend Park                                                           1836 NW 90th Street

This small neighborhood park includes a nice children's play area.

Wildwood Park                                                                       15166 Wildwood Drive

This four-acre park includes a soccer field, play equipment, basketball court, and a roller blading area.

 

Future Park Locations and Amenities

Alice's Road Park Site

The City owns nearly twenty acres along the west side of Alice's Road just north of Little Walnut Creek.  Plans will be developed in the coming years for amenities for this new park.

Alice's Road Greenbelt Trail

 With the assistance of grant funds from the Iowa Department of Transportation State Recreational Trails fund, improvements are underway for the development and installation of new trails to connect Alice's Road, the Verona Hills and Walnut Creek Hills neighborhoods.  Construction of Phase One of this trail project was completed in 2009.

Greenbelt Addition West of Alice's Road

 With the assistance of REAP grant funds, the City is in the process of purchasing approximately 30 acres along Little Walnut Creek.
