Bill Dikis
Bill Dikis, FAIA, is an architect and principal of Architectural Strategies LLC, founded after retiring in 2007 from RDG Planning & Design. During his tenure with RDG, the firm grew from 3 employees to more than 200. While at RDG, he directed Governmental, Civic and Historic Preservation projects, including serving as principal in charge of the Iowa State Capitol restoration from 1981 to 2007. In his new firm, he focuses on concept design, programming, strategic facility plans, master plans, and also serves as a construction-related expert witness.
He holds Bachelor of Architecture and Masters of Architecture degrees from Iowa State University. He is a member of the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and one of 9 recipients of the AIA Iowa Medal of Honor. A four year letter winner in tennis while at ISU, he is currently ranked #2 in Iowa in Men’s 65 Doubles.
Prior to moving to Clive in 2003, he chaired the city of Des Moines’ Urban Renewal Board, Urban Design Review Board, Strategic Planning Commission, and Architectural Advisory Committee, and served on the Mayor’s Landscape Task Force. He currently serves his profession as Chair of Government Affairs for AIA Iowa and on the Procedures and Documents Committee of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
