Board of Adjustment
Responsibilities - The Board of Adjustment is established to hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is an error in any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the Community Development Director in the enforcement of the City Zoning Ordinance. Specifically, the Board of Adjustment can only hear and decide such questions as are involved in determining whether special use permits or variances should be granted.
Meetings - The Board of Adjustment meets on the third Tuesday of each month, as needed, or on call of the Chairperson if a special meeting is necessary. The meetings are held in the City of Clive Council Chambers at 1900 NW 114th Street at 6:30 p.m. The presence of three (3) members is necessary to constitute a quorum.
Membership - The five (5) members, residents of the City, each serve five year terms on the Board of Adjustment. Members are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.
