Solid Waste
Artistic Waste Services is the official solid waste, yard waste and recycling hauler for the residents of Clive. Any questions or comments you have regarding your solid waste service should be addressed directly to Artistic Waste at 515-262-4040.
Your green Curb It! recycling bin is picked up on the same day as your solid waste.
If you reside WEST of I-35/80, your trash pickup day is on
Thursday.
If you reside EAST of I-35/80, your trash pickup day is on Friday.
If a holiday lands on your scheduled solid waste pickup day, Artisitic Waste will collect solid waste the next day, even on Saturday.
Holiday Solid Waste Pick Up Schedule
Artistic Waste observes the following holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
If one of these holidays fall on Monday through Thursday, collection for the portion of the city scheduled to be collected on Thursday will occur on Friday.
If one of these holidays fall on Monday through Thursday, collection for the portion of the city scheduled to be collected on Friday will occur on Saturday.
The need for this change is due to the fact that the Metro Waste Authority Landfill is closed on the holidays listed and disposal would not be possible if Artistic collected garbage on those days.
Charges and Collection
The current monthly charge for solid waste service including recycling effective September 1, 2007 and billed September 1:
- $ 10.43 for curbside pickup
- $ 15.43 for houseside pickup
If there are too many trash bags to fit in the toter, extra trash pick up tags must be applied. These stickers are $ 1.00 each and may be purchased at Clive City Hall, Dahl's, or Hy-Vee.
Curbside pickup is the standard service provided. For houseside pickup, contact Artistic Waste at 515-262-4040. The monthly fee includes solid waste and recycling. Whether you have curbside or houseside pickup, the empty container will be left at the curb.
Special accommodations are available for handicapped residents upon request. Please contact the City at 515-223-6220.
To receive a toter solid waste container, call Artisitic at 515-262-4040. The cost of the toter is included in the monthly collection fee. Toters are two-wheeled carts with attached lids.

- solid waste must be out by 7:00 a.m.
- bag your solid waste and then put it in the toter
- hazardous wastes must go to the Metro Waste Regional Collection Center in Bondurant, phone 515-967-5512
