University Boulevard -
NW 78th Street through NW 73rd Street
- Recommended to be expanded to a five-lane facility without an interim three-lane facility due to the need to reconstruct the Walnut Creek bridge.
- The westbound right turn lane at 75th Street should be converted into a through travel lane.
- An eastbound right turn lane should be added at the 73rd and University Avenue intersection, which would be a joint project with the City of Windsor Heights.
- A 12” water main would be installed south of the bridge, as well as a 36” storm sewer northwest and southeast of the bridge.
- The estimated cost of the project is $1,250,000 with possible funding from the Iowa DOT Traffic Safety Improvement Program, Iowa DOT Iowa Clean Air Attainment Program, and SAFETEA.
- This project is scheduled to begin in 2010.
- Project Notes:
- Maintain traffic and business access
- Phase into two segments:
- North half of University Boulevard
- South half of University Boulevard
- Allow access for side streets.
