Prior to City Council consideration in December the majority of work and discussions related to the Capital Improvements Program is performed by the City Manager’s CIP Team. This team consists of the City Manager, Assistant City Manager, City Clerk, and the Directors of Public Works, Leisure Services, and Community Development. Assistant City Manager Matt McQuillen chairs the group, leads discussions and providse direction throughout the capital improvement planning process.

August 16, 18 & 20, 2016

Mayor & City Council held their annual goal setting retreat to determine community vision and short term action items.

September 1, 2016

Initial staff kick-off meeting was held to review policies, distribute CIP/Budget manuals and schedule. 

September 2– October 6, 2016

During this period a series of meetings of the City Manager’s CIP Team were held to develop the long-term infrastructure strategies for the City, coordinate large scope projects, discuss relationships between the CIP and Comprehensive Plan, and specific direction on project requests to be submitted.

October 13, 2016

Deadline for department directors to deliver CIP project submittal forms to City Manager’s Office.

October 14 – October 26, 2016

The City Manager reviews CIP project requests.  A proposed 5-year CIP program is developed and project descriptions and summaries are prepared for the City Council CIP Workshop.

November 3, 2016

City Council CIP Workshop. City Manager and City Council review capital budget process overview, capital planning, project ranking/priority list for Calendar Year 2017, review financial plan and debt service requirements for proposed 2017-2021 CIP.  The Workshop Packet, including details of the proposed 2017-2021 CIP, is available on the City's electronic records system here.

December 8, 2016

Following a public hearing, the City Council considers approval of the 2017-2021 Capital Improvements Program.
