URGENT NOTICES: Minor Flooding Occurring Along Walnut Creek in Clive

CLIVE, Iowa – Due to heavy rainfall last night Clive is experiencing some minor flooding along Walnut Creek.  The City expects the creek to crest this morning at a level below 9.5 feet, which may result in minor roadway flooding along Swanson Blvd.  Public Works is currently monitoring the roadway and will close Swanson Blvd in the area of 92nd Ct if flood waters begin to cover the street.

With rain in the forecast on Friday evening there is potential for additionally flooding to occur.  The City would advise residents who live along the creek to be aware of coming storms and the potential for increased flooding.

Dog Bites
The owner of any dog, cat or other animal which has bitten or attacked a person, or any person having knowledge of the bite or attack, should be reported to the Clive Police Department.

Dog/Cat Licenses and "At Large" Regulations

Dogs and cats six months of age or older in Clive must have a pet license, which renews on an annual basis.  It is unlawful to allow dogs or cats to run at large within the corporate limits of the city.  Any animal at large may be impounded and the owner fined.

The cities of Clive, Urbandale and West Des Moines have become partners in an entity known as WestPet, for the purposes of animal control and pet licensing.  License renewals are accepted January 1 - April 30 each year without penalty.  On or after May 1, a $25 per pet late fee will be applied. 

Annual license fees are as follows:
Spayed or Neutered Cats, $13 each, or $20 if not altered 
Spayed or Neutered Dogs, $15 each, or $25 if not altered 
Each application requires a $4 processing fee per animal

After the annual licensing period, late fees will apply to all animals with the exception of newly obtained animals and/or new residents.  Go to www.westpet.org for further information and the license application.  For licensing questions, please call: 866-447-7248.

It is unlawful for any owner to allow dogs, cats or any other animals to run at large within the corporate limits of the City. Any animal at large may be impounded.  For more information, contact the Police Department.


Dead Animals

The City of Clive will remove dead animals from the streets and right-of-ways. If you have a dead animal in your yard that needs disposed of, put it in a black garbage bag, place the sack at the curb, and contact the Public Works Department.
