City Council Approves Water, Sewer and Storm Water Rate Changes
The Clive City Council has approved new water, sewer and storm water utility rates. There will be no change in the garbage collection rates.
Starting in May, water rates will increase 3% to $7.31 per 1,000 gallons. This rate has not been raised since 2011. Clive will maintain the fifth lowest water rate in the metro area.
Sewer rates will increase by 4% to $5.69 per 1,000 gallons of water used. This is largely because of higher operational and capital costs relating to the City's participation in the Des Moines Wastewater Reclamation Authority (WRA).
Storm water rates will increase 8% to $7.12 per month to continue funding storm water and flood protection projects, including sewer maintenance and Walnut Creek stream bank stabilization efforts. For an average household (5,000 gallons/month) this equates to a $2.98 per month increase.
These new rates are effective May 15, and will be reflected on your June bill.
