Construction on Hickman Road
Construction on Hickman Road east of Interstate 35/80
The Iowa Department of Transportation has recently starting resurfacing Hickman Road between Interstate 35/80 and Merle Hay Road. The project scope includes milling up the existing asphalt surface and replacing it with 3-inches of hot mix asphalt surface. Because of high traffic volumes along the corridor, this work will be completed overnight between the hours of 7:00 pm and 6:00 am. The normal work week for these operations will be Sunday night through Friday morning.
Higher noise levels will be experienced by residents and businesses immediately adjacent to the work zone on a given night. One lane of traffic will remain open while the adjacent lane is resurfaced. Two lifts of asphalt will be placed on separate nights to achieve the desired 3-inch overlay thickness. Overnight work is expected to be ongoing within the project limits for the entire month of July. As always, progress on the project is dependent on weather conditions experienced moving forward.
The general public is reminded to use caution in and around the work zone and to heed all traffic control devices and construction signage. Some delays may occur during paving operations. Please contact Clive Public Works at 223-6231 with questions, concerns or the need for additional information.
