Clive Maintains Status Quo, Bans Fireworks Use
During their May 25 meeting, the Clive City Council voted unanimously to approve an ordinance amendment to “opt out” of the State law which permits fireworks use in the City. The ordinance amendment will maintain the status quo of banning the use of first-class and second-class consumer fireworks in the community. Novelty fireworks (such as sparklers) will continue to be allowed. Violators of the first-class and second-class consumer fireworks ban can be charged with a simple misdemeanor and a fine up to $500 per offense.
